The history of holiday tree

The history of holiday tree has its beginning in Germany. In the 16th century German Christians locate in their homes the decked trees. Somebody was built wooden pyramids and then decorated them with candles and evergreens. Candles was added to a holiday tree by Martin Luther in the same time. Idea for candles appears in the time of walk. Martin Luther one winter evening noticed brillinace of stars shining amidst evergreens.

Holiday tree in culture of the USA

Small group of people know that majority of 19th century American citizens treated Christmas trees as crankiness. The first record about holiday tree in that area appeared in 1830s and tell about German settlers as a owners of holiday tree. Some hold that the Pennsylvania German settlements had Christmas trees as early as 1747. However, as late as the 1840s Christmas trees were seen as pagan symbols and they were not accepted by majority of American citizens.

The tradition of carols

The definition of „carol” actually means dance or a song of joy and praise. In the past carols were songs of pagans those were sung at the celebration of Winter Solstice when people danced around circles of stone. Christians took over pagan customs and gave Christian songs. In 129 the song „Angel’s Hymn” was known and sung at a Christmas celebrations in Italy. Other Christmas hymn was written in 760 by Comas from Jerusalem. After that time many composers all over the Europe started writting holiday carols. But majority of Christmas songs was sung in Latin and because of that many people weren’t intrested in singing Christmas songs.
