Christmas in UK in many aspects hasn’t differences in context with another lands. In UK Nativity Plays or Carol Services are popular too. Britishers at December 24th eat Christmas foods, but typical meal is different than in other lands. But the interesting fact can be carols by Candlelight Service during which all church is lit up only by candles. In the UK a lots of people walk to the church where is church service at midnight in the Christmas Eve.
Time of looking forward to Santa Claus
In United Kingdom childrens also look forward to Santa Claus. At the end of the December 24th kids prepare stockings or pillowcases by the fireplace or children’s beds. They believe that Father Christmas leave gifts in those items, not near to Christmas tree like believe kids from many countries. Often children in United Kingdom are very grateful – they prepare mince pies or brandy for Father Christmas to eat and to drink when he come to their home. Nowadays it is usually non-alcoholic drink due to Santa has to be sober during drive his sled.

Every year, at second day of Christmas people watch Speech of the Queen. The idea of a Christmas speech has its beginning long time before current Queen took the throne. The Speech of the Queen was a key element in the development of the BBC in early years of operation. The first speech was in 1932 and it was given by King George V. Queen in her speeches tells about current things of UK and other lands and says about her approach. It is great summary of facts of the year and programs for the future. The Queen’s Speech is important point of every Christmas.
